Dancing, Dancing, Dancing
With obesity such a major topic of concern for parents, children, healthcare workers, and numerous other parties, it is no wonder that alternative forms of exercise are being actively explored. From the Play 60 movement that encourages kids to be active for at least sixty minutes a day to water aerobics for expectant mothers there has been an obvious shift towards a healthier lifestyle. As a web developer it is easy to allow myself to become sedentary. However, I live in a college town where there are all types of activities available to help me get the exercise I need.
Though I may not be Fred Astaire, I enjoy dancing. For me, dance is not only an expressive outlet, it is a wonderful form of exercise. I like the fact that dance combines artistic expression with an aerobic type exercise. With the music component thrown in, dance seems less like traditional exercise and more like fun! Of course I make sure to wear thick socks and comfortable shoes because the last thing I want is for my fun to become painful. From salsa to jazzercise, if you are looking for a fun, alternative way to exercise let me recommend taking a dance class.
Real Fashion, Real People
To say that I am a slave to fashion would actually be pretty comedic to many people who know me. This does not mean that I do not like nice clothes and quality materials. What it means is that I have my own fashion sense. While I am a fan of t-shirts and short, when the occasion calls for it I am happy to don a nice wool suit and fashionable dress shirt. I appreciate the versatility in my fashion.
I don’t subscribe to GQ or Details version of what they try to tell everyone fashion means. For me, fashion is very personal, not formulaic. I am a fan of expressing one’s personality through fashion. I think the new Ed Hardy line by Christian Audigier fits my personality. I appreciate the graphic design element and the use of color in the prints. The image to the right is one example that I appreciate. It is very reminiscent of a Santana album cover (and I love that.)
Just because some fashion magazine or television commercial tells you something looks good or is in style, it does not necessarily mean its true. Be yourself in what you do. Being a sheep just means that others are making decisions for you. Isn’t it better to make decisions for yourself?
What is the meaning of a Friend?
Many people come and go in our lives, but few have a lasting impact. Most of the ones that do, we tend to call friends. A true friend is a person that does things without asking. Today is my birthday for all of you that do not know. I am never one that ask for presents or birthday cards, but I am always overjoyed when I receive them. You expect these things come from family members, but it is always a surprise when you receive something from a friend that is clear across the country.
Today, this present arrived in a box from a company called Elegant Creations. The send of the gift was Lori Palermo of Fairway Real Estate. She is a client of Positive Real Estate Professionals as well as R & D Art. But, moreover, she is someone that I will always call FRIEND. Thanks for the gift basket, Lori.

Internet Business Requires Internet Presence (reblogged)
As an Internet business, Positive Real Estate Professionals understands the need for an Internet presence. For the most part, that is a given when you run a Real Estate network such as ours. The great thing is that our members understand the importance of this. However, this post is not about the people that are members here nor is it about our network. It is about the people that do not understand that to build your business on the Internet, you first have to build an Internet presence. Before I take that any further, let me state this; Internet presence is not achieved by playing games on the computer all day and waiting for a potential client to locate you.
Chiquita the Chihuahua saves Rosie from becoming a Cougar Snack
When I first heard about this story, I thought people were making it up. After I did some research, I have become a believer that it is not the size of the dog in the fight, but yet the size of the “Bark” that wins the battle. If you have not seen this touching story, then please take the time to watch it.

Voting on People’s RIGHTS just ain’t RIGHT.
Voting on people’s rights just ain’t right. You would think that America learned it’s lesson on picking an choosing who had what rights. However, that does not seem to be the case today as homosexual men and women fight for the “right” to get married. Personally, I do not need a piece of paper to tell me or anyone around me that I love the one I am with. I do not need to wear a ring to signify my endless love to that person either. I only need them to know that I am there. With that said, many people do not feel that way so they want to be able to “legally” wear that ring or to be able to hang that certificate on the wall in a great frame.
For many years, Americans thought that a woman’s place was six steps behind her husband and she never was to voice her opinion. Personally, I know some men that needed to have the same thing done to them. Since that time, we have had many great women grace us. I just wonder what we missed in the past. It just goes to show you the ignorance of some men. With this being the case for all the women, it appalls me that some women thought that it was right to ban “gay marriage”. You should be appalled as you know what your gender had to endure over the years. If you don’t then maybe you need to sit down and talk to your mother, grandmother, or even great grandmother and hear what your gender had to overcome.
Between the years of 1955 and 1968, the African-American Civil Rights movement transpired. If it were not for people like Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, Jr., we would not have the opportunity to witness a great man like Barack Obama sitting in the White House today. Rosa refused to be ushered to the back of the bus, Martin had a dream, and Barack finally got to realize his dream. Not only is he riding in the front of the bus, he is driving it. The “BUS” is our country for you who cannot figure that out. Once again, the white man thought that he was the only one that mattered and others were not meant to be seen or heard. With that said, I am once again appalled at a race that knows what it is like to be persecuted and treated unfairly; a race that had no rights when they really should have had every right. Your race should be able to recognize a similar struggle for equality and essentially get it.
Now, today we stand here once again; a country divided over equality. Come to America, the land of the free, the home of the Brave, where straight men and women have the right to marry and divorce at the drop of a hat, but homosexual men and women have to just live together because we are “playa haters”. This my friends should be the new slogan for American.
I leave you with this thought. What will you do when the day comes that something you want so bad is put to a vote and is not allowed because of your sexuality, race, or religion? HMMMM, sounds like discrimination to me.
Blogging is not just for “Mommy Bloggers” anymore.
When I first got into blogging back in 2007, it was an industry that was predominately dominated by the consummate “Mommy Blogger”. Today, that is not the fact. It is amazing the changes that I have witnessed over the time that I have been involved.
In today’s blogging world, you have CEO’s of major companies that maintain their own blog, you have top journalist that has their own, you have prominent sports players that post theirs, and you definitely find industry specific business people that have their own. The big question comes down to whether or not you are reaching the type of readers that you want to reach. For that you to discover what type of blogger you are. So, lets take a look at the many different types of bloggers that are out there.
Journal Blogger – The journal blogger was probably one of the original bloggers on the net. Their focus is no more than detailing events in their own life. I have come across some of these that are great to read and then I have come across ones that really have no reason for being on the world wide web other than giving the blogger something to do to occupy their time.
Entrepreneurial Blogger – This is a totally different type of blogger. This blogger is set out to use their blog to make money. In other words, they are a hired gun persae. They seek out advertisers that want to pay bloggers to write reviews on the bloggers site. They might also sale off links to sites to also generate money. Typically their sidebar, header, and footer is either filled with banner ads or at least has the open space to sale some spots.
Pundit Blogger – These are bloggers that are very knowledgeable in what they write about and have no other purpose than sharing the knowledge that they have. These can be sports bloggers, news bloggers, etc…. While they might have some ads on their site, they are mainly focused on sharing the news at hand.
Industry Professional Bloggers – The industry professional blogger is typically the person that is out to generate business for themselves or the company that they work for. One industry that you can look at as an example would be the Real Estate industry. Amongst this industry, you can find a ton of Real Estate blogs that deal with many aspects of the industry itself.
Now, once you have determined where you fall, then you have to look at the people that comment on your articles. If you seem to be getting a few readers and even less in the comment realm, then maybe you need to reassess your blog. With that said, there might not even be anything wrong with your blog at all. You might just not have the tools or knowledge that it takes to push your site like you want.
Yesterday, I wrote an artile on another site of mine. The article ask the question Does Your Blog Get You The Exposure That You Need? It is a simple question when it comes down to it. Lets go back to the example of the consummate Real Estate blog. I have ran across a ton of these blogs that are great, yet, it seems that their traffic is mediocre at best. For these people, it would behove them to join a real estate network to help gain more exposure.
These types of networks are all over the place. The great thing is, they are not just limited to the Real Estate market. Neighborhood Expert Online is a great blog network to join for people that love to talk about the area they live in. It is also a great site for professionals to belong to as well as they can help get people interested in their neck of the woods. The Wordless Blog is another great network to join. This site is basically a photo blog and it gives the artistic person an outlet to post pictures and not worry about have to write a single word.
So, in closing, which type of blogger are you?
