Bloggers Disappearing

Over the last two days I have noticed that a lot of the blogs that I frequent on Blogger are gone. At first glance, I wondered if they decided it would be better to go to a different platform or what, but at this point none of them are there anymore. This brings me to write this blog today.

I recently left the blogger platform myself. It was this very blog that I am currently writing on that was on the blogger platform. I felt like I was trapped with what I could do with the blogger platform. I felt the limitations of being in the free blog world. My blog is still free, but instead of living with the limitations of Blogger.com or even WordPress.com, I decided to use some space on my server and go with WordPress.org as my platform. I love it because of the freedom that it allows.

Now, back to the issue at hand. Why are all of these profound bloggers leaving the blogging world? I know that it can not be the lack of money since all of these services are free. So, the only thing that I can figure is that these people are leaving because there is no base of readers to pull from. All of the traffic is left to be driven by you. While that is not an impossible task, it can be daunting for a newbie.

This brings me to my next question; Why not just join a network blog?

What? You have never heard of a network blog? Blogs like Neighborhood Expert Online, Positive Real Estate Professionals, The Wordless Blog, and soon to be Athletic Alley as well as Blog Star Today. All of these sites are built and maintained by R & D Art, which is owned by R & D Management, and the first three already have the network system built in. Each of these networks are built around a theme. Let’s take a quick look at them.

  • Neighborhood Expert Online, also known as NEO, is designed with travel in mind. Who knows your neck of the woods better than you do? So, why not share what you know?
  • Positive Real Estate Professionals, also known as PREP, is designed to rebuttal ALL the negative press that surrounds the mortgage and Real Estate industries. Today, it is evolving into a network platform to bring together anyone in the real estate or mortgage industry. The goal is to provide one place for professionals and consumer to come together. The only people that can join the network are actually professionals in the housing industry. The reason for this is so that they can share their expertise with the consumers. This is the ONLY premium site that R & D Management runs.
  • The Wordless Blog says it all. It is a place for picture lovers and photographers to come together and exchange. A picture is worth a thousand words and since life is caught in photos, why not use them to speak?
  • Athletic Alley has yet to be converted, but it is next in line. It is designed as an online sports network and will remain that way. However, instead of all bloggers sharing on one page, they will be able to have their own sports based blog right inside Athletic Alley.
  • Blog Star Today is a project that is about 2 months out. The theme behind it is that anyone can become a member and blog about anything that they want. It in itself is going to give the wordpress.com and blogger.com feel except that the network will be more user friendly. Being able to share across the network will be just a click away.

Now that I have shared all of these with you, let me extend an open invitation to any and all that would like to join one of these networks. I hope to see you in one or all of them.

One Response to “Bloggers Disappearing”

  • The reason why only a small percentage get to continue their blogging is because there’s no full purpose to why they’re doing it in the first place. Some of course prefer a good number of readers while others like it private, an online diary they like to check on whenever they have time. And still others do it for something temporary which ends up discouraging them thus leading to a blog that is either deleted or abandoned.
